POPCONVERSATION WITH ROBERT JENRICK

13TH MAY 2024 : 6PM : ONLINE

REGISTRATION OPEN

REGISTER HERE to join PopCon Director, Mark Littlewood and Rt Hon Robert Jenrick MP, for a discussion about current Conservative Party policy on a range of topical issues.

Robert is certainly hot news. He has co-authored a report for the Centre For Policy Studies (released just this week) entitled "Taking Back Control". The report argues that the scale and composition of recent migration have failed to deliver the significant economic and fiscal benefits its advocates promised, while putting enormous pressure on housing, public services and infrastructure. The report puts forward a thirty-point plan - the vast majority of which can be implemented within the remainder of this parliament - and it's making a real splash in the media.

ABOUT ROBERT

Robert entered Parliament following a by-election in June 2014. He has since served continuously as MP for Newark. Until December 2023, he was Minister of State (Minister for Immigration) at the Home Office (October 2022 to December 2023). He resigned in December as Immigration Minister after failing to persuade the Prime Minister to take tougher measures in the Rwanda Bill to curb illegal migration.

Since his resignation, Robert has been busy - appearing regularly in the news calling for a nationality data scheme to prevent UK ‘importing crime’; highlighting the real issues surrounding illegal migration and legal migration and how to tackle both; UK’s defence budgets; and ’feeble’ sanctions against China.

Away from politics, Robert qualified as a solicitor in 2008 and practised corporate law at leading international law firms in London and Moscow before pursuing a business career. He held several senior financial roles prior to being elected to Parliament.
