GB News: 6th February 2024: PopCon Director, Mark Littlewood, appeared on GB News to discuss the new movement 'Popular Conservatism' launching today. 

During the interview, Mark Littlewood said "The institutional infrastructure in the United Kingdom mitigates against conservatism. So design your ideal immigration policy. Let's suppose you have that in your mind right now. Good luck getting that through the ECHR, the Human Rights Act, and the platoons of lawyers.... Unless the overall structure of the UK changes, it doesn't really matter what your immigration policy is, you will never be able to implement it"...."It doesn't really matter if you want to get taxes down, you haven't got a prayer. You haven't got a chance. Essentially because the Conservatives have signed up to the Blairite consensus.... which has built an enormous bureaucratic state..... Unless Conservatives are prepared to do something which against their instincts, change the way Britain is structured as a government machine, then I think we will continue to see poor results, even if the Conservatives were to win the next General Election..."

Talking about the PopCon launch event, Christopher Hope, Political Editor and Head of Politics, GB News, said "I was really impressed with the audience, It was much bigger and not the damp squib everyone thought. There was money in the room, strategists,...basically everyone you would need to set up a party was in that room. So whether they are planning for pre-election or post-election we'll have to see"
