Telegraph: 29th August 2025: Telegraph reports on latest seniot politician to roll in behind PopCon supporters and others in calling for Britain to leave the European Court of Human Rights.

"A senior former Tory minister has “changed his mind” and urged Sir Keir Starmer to temporarily withdraw from the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) to tackle the migration crisis.

Sir Malcolm Rifkind, the former foreign secretary who served under both Baroness Thatcher and John Major, said the ECHR was delaying and obstructing the Government’s efforts to stop illegal migrants crossing the Channel.

He accused judges on the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) of interpreting the ECHR in a way that was never intended, which meant its judgments were hampering the ability of UK courts to deport illegal migrants – a key deterrent to further crossings...

...“I have changed my mind. I am very sad to have done so because I have been a strong believer in the ECHR but sometimes you have to concede that change is necessary,” he told BBC Radio Four’s Today programme..."
