“Rachel Reeves has pushed this country to the brink of economic crisis through high taxes, high regulation and disastrous Net Zero policies.
When I tried to fix these problems back in 2022 I was undermined by the economic establishment and was forced to reverse the policies before they were even implemented.
I was blamed for the LDI crisis which the Bank of England has subsequently admitted was their fault.
So let’s look at the facts.
Rachel Reeves borrowed far more in her budget than we did back in 2022. But with no plans to pay it back through increased economic growth.
Government gilt rates for both ten-year and thirty-year are higher now than they were back in 2022.
Yet at the time, I was smeared by the Labour party and my own party for having crashed the economy. I faced a 24-hour onslaught from the mainstream media, leaking and briefing.
Where are those people now?
The people who sabotaged the mini budget have led us inextricably to the path we are on right now.
It's only by reviving those policies that Britain will escape the economic doomloop we’re in now in.”
