"What is Popular Conservatism? Liz Truss and Jacob Rees-Mogg to launch movement
The ex-prime minister and her allies say they want to restore 'democratic accountability'"
The Standard: 31st January 2024: The Standard reports on launch of Popular Conservatism
"Former prime minister Liz Truss is to launch a Popular Conservatism movement aimed at restoring “democratic accountability” across the UK.
She will announce the movement at an event in central London alongside four members of her short-lived Cabinet next month including Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg, who served as her business secretary.
Sir Simon Clarke and Ranil Jayawardena will also speak at the event on February 6 and are said to be onboard with the new movement, named PopCon, which seeks to “restore democratic accountability to Britain and deliver popular conservative policies”.

"It is believed the PopCon's intention is to look at current problems and be "more transparent" about how the Conservatives will solve them. The group believe that trust in politics has gone and being more open about how they will fund things is the way forward.
It is a push into the free market by Right-wing believers and it has been reported that the group is aiming to help shape the next Conservative manifesto ready for the general election expected this year.
